Social media and the re-structuring of communities : Changing perceptions.

Abstract: Social media has changed how the sense of ‘community’ is perceived. Communities are closely tied to how people identify with them. This paper will argue that social media has changed how this identification is made, bridging old divisions, and leading to the formation of new types of inclusive and diverse communities that eschew traditional social markers.
