    Hi Octave,

It is great to see how your presentation explores how social media platforms help build online communities, while also highlighting their vulnerability to misinformation within diaspora groups. You have also chosen a strong case study to support your argument. Here are some questions that would be interesting to discuss further:

    1. You mentioned how a platform’s design form communities around the world and applied it to YouTube and TikTok. How would you differentiate the way these two platforms form online communities, given that they are both video-based platforms that share many similar features?

    2. Your case study explains how YouTube’s affordances enable Filipina women in interracial relationships to form an ‘online sisterhood’. By building on your discussion about misinformation, it would be great to discuss how misinformation spreads within online communities formed on YouTube. Could you provide a specific example of how misinformation spreads within these YouTube communities and how does the features or algorithms can contribute to this?

    3. How does online harassment appear within “intimate publics” in your YouTube case study, and what does this suggest about the risk of “social surveillance” for transnational communities?
